Time & Expenses > Work with time entries from the Floating Timer view
The Floating Timer makes it easy to work on a time entry without opening its details window. Start and stop the timer, edit the duration directly, or assign a file. Work with a brand new time entry or one of your existing time entries for today.
The Floating Timer view of a new time entry appears, with its timer running. (If another time entry was previously shown in the Floating Timer, it's automatically saved and closed.)
The time entry details window closes (without yet saving) and only its Floating Timer view is shown, with the timer still running. (If another time entry was previously shown in the Floating Timer, it's automatically saved and closed.)
The Floating Timer now shows the time entry you just selected, with its timer started, and the time entry previously shown is automatically saved and closed.
● File: Changing a time entry's file assignment will automatically change its billing status and rate to those specified in the file. Time entries on a file are accessible by all users assigned to that file.
● Duration:
In either tenths of an hour or minutes, as set in your Options > My
Preferences.
You can click the stopwatch icon to start a timer, and then click the stop
icon to stop it. If the timer is not running, you can edit the duration
directly.
Note: ● Open: Click this button to open the time entry details and close the Floating Timer view. If the timer was already running, it continues running. ● Minimize/Maximize: Click the triangular button
at the top right to minimize the Floating Timer and dock it at
the top of the screen. Afterward you can unminimize, if necessary. ● Only one time entry timer can be running: Starting the timer in a time entry details window will stop the timer in any current Floating Timer (but doesn't close that view). Similarly, launching the Floating Timer, or restarting the timer in one, will stop any timer currently running in a time entry details window. ● Phone call and email timers can be running at the same time as a time entry timer.
